Umemura Art Nihonga (Japanese-Style Painting) School

Japanese-style painting, called "nihonga" in Japanese, was developed more than one thousand years ago.
Japanese-style painting (nihonga) consists of many unique materials with multiple techniques.
In this school, students can learn how to use such materials and techniques.
For example, students learn about "saiboku-ga" style, in which "sumi" inks and brushes are used
(referred to as ink-and-wash painting in English).
Students also learn about different styles using pigments and gold leaves.
